Guess I did not mention that I have acted in and directed several plays in this area.  Occassionally I can lure my beloved into being in a play; but he is a real whiz at set building.

Earlier this spring, I directed a really funny comedy play "Kitchen Witches" for the Tin Shop Theatre in Buchanan, Michigan.  Great fun and lots of laughs - good cast.  Unfortunately, we had one of the leading actors drop out the night before opening night!  Oh, no!

However, the other leading lady, pursuaded a young man to take the part of one of the Kitchen Witches.  He willingly dressed in the costumes, and with the script in hand did a magnificent job!
The audience loved it - so if a community theatre does this particular play - don't miss it!!

To make a long story short, there was to be a play "Top Girls" to follow "Kitchen Witches".  They could not get enough actors for the all female cast.  So .... we were asked to redo our KW play.  We are busy rehearsing at this time.  We have a new Lighting and Sound Tech person, as well as a new Stage Manager who will help back stage.   And our "stage hands" (Dale Banks, Doug Stone and Sue Stone will get the set all set!)  Amazing how theatre folks step up to the plate!  Hope to have four more rehearsals and then have a Saturday, May 13 at 7:30pm re-opening night. plus performances at 2:00pm and 6:30pm Sunday, May 14!  For the first performances earlier, I made little Kitchen Witches as a door prize for each performance.  (Hope I have time to make three more of those little ladies.)  Perfect Mother's Day gift for your family!!

If you are in southwestern Michigan or northwestern Indiana -- don't miss this great fun play!

Local community theatre in this area is fantastic.    The largest one is at the South Bend Civic Theatre in South Bend, Indiana - only about 10 miles south of here.  They always put on a very professional theatre experience.  Also - Niles Four Flags Players (Niles, MI), Elkhart Civic Theatre (Elkhart, IN), Twin City Players, and the Beckwith Theatre in Dowagiac, MI.  There are several others - the amount of acting,, singing, and dancing talent in this area is incredible.  Plu, Chicago, IlLL theatre is not very far away (although much more expensive than local community venues.

I must mention that last night my husband, Dale Banks, and I went up to Dowagiac to see "The Iliad, the Odyssey, and ALL OF GREEK MYTHOLOGY IN 99 MINUTES OR LESS."   Absolutely hysterical play done by three men and two women -- on stage most of the evening.  Wow!  I was so  impressed that they all memorized the entire play!  Another great commedy.

Well, here I am!  Remembering so many rather humorous family incidents so I thought I would share.  I have a friend, Ruth, who writes a blog every day so that her grandchildren can remember who she is and what she and her husband are/were all about.   Ruth and I worked together in Galveston, Texas, in Child Psychiatry in about 1964.  It is amazing that we still connect and are both still incredibly gorgeous and smart!  Her husband's intellect puts me to shame.   I also have a friend who is an actor, a writer, a second grade teacher, a wife and a mother -- and incredible person.  Most of my writing skills, lowly as they may be, are due to having worked at various places with folks who had been English majors.  So, thus begin, April 28, 2017,  my attempts at writing as the youthful age of 75! A bit about myself:  I am a retired Registered Occupational Therapist - my degree is from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.  As an OTR, I...
Have missed a few days!  Busy with getting the play "Kitchen Witches" back up and ready to perform on May 13 & 14.  Great cast seem to rememer most of their lines -- good work folks! Thinking about summer flower garden.  Did not do much last summer and fall due to my health/orthopedic issues.  So .. if it would warm up, I would be so glad.  After having a very mild winter, spring seems a bit elusive!  Lovely and in the 70s for a few days -- and now we are back to 30s and 40s.  In "my other life"(reference to my first marriage) my dear mother-in-law said to never plant things that could be damaged by frost until after Mother's Day.  So, I wait, dying to go to the nearby green houses and buy things.  I keep trying to get mostly perienials - always praying they will come up another year!  And, we need perhaps one more tree and several bushes that did not return this year.  Another little concern, we cannot find hardy mums for out...
